BTRnews: Welcoming back 'Weary Death'

Post by DavidH_aus »

> BTR continues its video re-release schedule with two more shorts from the Doctor Who: Short Trips and Side Steps series, The Welcoming and Weary Death, now available for downloading from the BTR website, http://www.btrproductions.org.

Originally released in March 2003, and despite having been unavailable in a download form for well over 18 months, The Welcoming remains one of BTR Video's most popular short films.

With a new companion aboard the Tardis, Guy decides it is time to assist the Ebullient Zautrino in one of the most harrowing experiences a new companion can go through -- selecting a bedroom.

However, the room Zautrino selects contains far more secrets than are at first apparent to the former swordsman of Queen Barria. Before long, a mysterious voice is taunting Zautrino, striking at his very honour.

Where does this voice come from? What is it trying to tell Zautrino? And what important secret is it not revealing to him?

As Zautrino hears more, he is soon unable to tell fact from fiction...

The production of Weary Death marked BTR's return to fan film making after a whopping 18-month hiatus. This production was something of a departure from BTR Video's previous short films, foreshadowing elements of the story arc for BTR's planned fourth season of Doctor Who audio dramas:

The Prophecy has been made.

The Watcher knew of it. And now the Doctor knows of it as well. A dark, terrible Prophecy that involves the fate of the entire Universe.

The mysterious stranger also knows about the Prophecy. He also knows all about the Doctor, and his involvement in the Prophecy. He knows exactly what the Doctor has just learnt.

What is the Doctor's part in the Prophecy? What is the Watcher's connection to it? Why has it got the Doctor so depressed?

But more importantly, can this stranger help the Doctor when the time comes?
