BTRnews: On a quiet beach somewhere

Post by DavidH_aus »

> BTR Video announces the latest re-releases from its Doctor Who: Short Trips and Side Steps collection, A Quiet Beach Somewhere and Christmas Comedy Special, now available for downloading at the BTR website, http://www.btrproductions.org.

In November 2003, BTR set yet another trend for fan media production teams around the globe, marking Doctor Who's 40th Anniversary by releasing a range of new productions over the anniversary week, including the audio drama Dominion and comedy short The Six-Minute Doctor's Birthday. A Quiet Beach Somewhere was the last of those special releases, and also clocked-up one of the shortest Post-Production phases of any of BTR's productions, being filmed roughly 10 days prior to release.

DOCTOR WHO: A QUIET BEACH SOMEWHERE BY WITOLD TIETZE
Additional Dialogue by Darran Jordan

The Doctor has done what he thought he would never do -- killed his closest and most dearest companion. Despite Guy's attempts at cheering him up, the Doctor is slowly sliding into a deep depression.

However, before too long the Doctor and Guy both realise that they are being toyed with -- tested by someone they have never fought before. All the tests revolve around one location, one period of time, and one family line.

Who is toying with the Doctor and Guy, and why? In what way is this linked to their recent bout with the Watcher? And just why are the Doctor and Guy constantly being drawn to locations in Queensland in one time period?

Originally released in December 2003, Christmas Comedy Special was BTR's attempt at producing a different kind of Christmas episode, compared to what other production teams released at the time. Although widely criticised by people who appeared to completely miss the point of the film, most seemed to enjoy it for what it was. Now is your chance to decide for yourself.

DOCTOR WHO: CHRISTMAS COMEDY SPECIAL BY DARRAN JORDAN, FROM A STORY BY WITOLD TIETZE

Lana -- Laughing Lana to her friends -- is a comedienne, a female comedian. Her life's work is to make people happy, to make people laugh. A laugh to Lana is like magic and gold.

Sadly, there aren't a lot of laughs in Lana's life. She is depressed, alone, afraid, and despises all there is in the Universe. She's someone who feels she has reached life's end, and is prepared to take any means to end it all.

But what if someone were to walk into her life -- try and sort things out? To try and change things? Would a funny little man who tells stories of monsters out there in the depths of space really be able to make a difference?

Don't forget, to download the media files of each of our productions, the link to hit is the one directly below the embedded player under the Play links of each individual track.
