BTRnews: ...In the next Six Minutes

Post by DavidH_aus »

> The BTR re-release schedule for 2005 kicks into its third phase with the release of our first-ever Six-Minute Movies.

Produced in association with The Federation, The Six Minute UNIT Files marked the debut of BTR founder Matthew Kopelke as a film writer/director, and although the film itself has several very obvious technical flaws, it's still considered a good starting point. The film itself and a short blooper are now on-line in DivX format at the BTR website, http://www.btrproductions.org.

After hearing disturbing reports from a "friend of a friend" of unearthly occurrences, Professor Jennifer Langard and Captain Rainor Vance of the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce decide it's time these reports were investigated.

Drawn to a small townhouse in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, Jenny and Rainor make a shocking discovery there -- one which will threaten Rainor's life, and Jenny's scientific outlook on life. For they both thought vampires were only the stuff of folklore and gothic horror novels.

But as they investigate further, they soon discover that vampirism is very much alive and well -- and wants to claim more lives...

Originally released on the 6M2 web site in the RealVideo 8 format, these in-house re-releases have now been made available as high-quality DivX files, which allow for a greater picture clarity. This means that for the first time ever, viewers will finally be able to see what on Earth was going on in the opening scene of this film.

The Six Minute Survivor was filmed and released in June 2001. Billed as BTR's "first ever comedy video", while not exactly laugh-out-aloud in tone (and hence heavily criticised by several viewers because of what the film wasn't, rather than what it was), it was nevertheless a light-hearted piece of fluff which featured several inspired moments.

So, they've faced disaster on desert islands, the Australian outback, the plains of Africa, the Amazon jungle and the wilds of Thailand.

But these Americans aren't capable of anything even remotely approaching survival when the CBS network turns its attention to the 'Doctor Who' universe...
