RECORDING ICE
In the latter months of 2000, BTR started making plans to begin releasing its own semi-pro original audio titles. This was down to not only a desire to tell original stories with original characters, but also the success of our Doctor Who audio series had shown us we seemed to know what we were doing. After several months of scripting work, Ice, the premiere episode of BTR's original sci-fi anthology series Beyond Traditional Recognition, was recorded and released.
Despite containing several "first-release teething problems", Ice was a major triumph for BTR as a group. To pique your interest in the release, we present to you a re-release of a wonderful little "fly on the wall" making-of documentary which charts the efforts made at one of the two recording sessions for this particular release. Containing sneak glimpses at actual recorded material, it's a great piece of work.
RECORDING THE ALIEN FACTOR
After a gap of approximately six months away from recording audio adventures, BTR bounced into its second long-running phase of recording sessions with the recording of the fourth volume of adventues in the critically acclaimed sci-fi anthology series Beyond Traditional Recognition. This time the serial going before the microphone was the two-part Witold Tietze story The Alien Factor, released as the opening serial of Beyond Traditional Recongition's second season.
In a move once described as "leaving Alexandria Palace for Lime Grove", this was the first BTR audio drama recorded at the self-titled "Melton Road Studio Complex", which allowed BTR to have a seperate studio for recording, and green-room for general conversation and food/drinks consumption. The final product, released on CD in March 2004, became one of BTR's best-selling releases, with a large number of people taking an interest in the adventures of the SCPIS.
Recording 'The Alien Factor' is a glimpse at the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing a standard BTR production. With candid cast and crew discussions and exclusive extracts from the serial itself, this is sure to please.
Both documentaries are now available in high-quality DivX video for free download from the BTR website.
