Tropes

Post by lordsummerisle »

While looking something up on Wiki I came across this site.

http://tvtropes.org

When I looked up, three hours had passed. One for true TV anoraks, but ones who don't take it all too seriously.

Yep, far too much time can be wasted on that site!

Lots of references to Doctor Who, I see. Torchwood could probably do quite well in the trope count too, I think. It's almost like every week they take a hackneyed old plot and fill it with the Welsh and innuendo! There are other threads for that discussion, though!

Lots of British references on there considering it's a US registered site. Perhaps we are particularly bad for that sort of thing here! Having said that, I don't watch soaps but I hope we've never had one that does the old 'the new actor starts and a voiceover declares, "The role of -character- is now being played by -actor-"'!

If nothing else it really highlights how formulaic TV and film has become...
