It's been a few years since they had any quality TO recognise.

On the subject of 'raiding the vaults' Jeanie tells me that one of her work chums has just been to see The Goodies Christmas Special being recorded down at the BBC.

Why? Why?!!!

Why resort to constant re-makes when there is so much talent out there to nurture?

(And, yes, I know... Doctor Who...)

It's as if the people in charge these days are determined to relive their youth and inflict it on today's kiddie winkies.

BTW Did you hear that Brian Cant was TURNED DOWN to voice the narrative for those Windy Miller/Quakers adverts.

WHY!!!??

My guess would be that some overpaid and under-talented ad exec decided he wanted someone who sounded more like the original narrator .... someone more Brian Cant-ish :-)

The constant remakes thing annoys the hell out of me too. I'd like to think there was still a little original thought floating around the corridors of the BBC and I'd sooner see something new rather than more recycled nostalgia too. But, asuming this is all true, a Goodies Xmas special would be a massive climb-down by them. So many controllers have refused to consider repeats and even the Best Of DVD releases were sorted out independently by the cast with little, if any, help.
