Return of the Jedi

Watched _Jedi_ again a few weeks ago. Depressing as hell -- Lucas can chunder on as much as he likes about how makes movies that *he* wants to make, but the introduction of the Ewoks gives the lie to that empty oath.

We wuz promised Wookiees, dammit. Back in the 70s, even the 'official' rumours mill -- the fanclub newsletter -- told that there would a be a return to Chewbacca's homeworld in the final film. Mind you, it also said the title would be _Revenge of the Jedi_, and that turned out just to be a smoke screen to fox would-be bootleg merchandisers.

No, we got a bunch of creepy-eyed teddies bumping into each other and squealing "Eecha wamba!" and such like, all to cash in on kids' gullibility.

Oh, and Boba Fett turned out to be rubbish as well.

20 years on and I'm still bitter about it. You can tell, can't you?
