Doctor Who 3 - families

Post by Hobbit »

According to Auntie Beeb, Martha's family will feature in the new season of Doctor Who. There seem to be two schools of thought among us Sad Fans -

a) <shrug> fair enough doesn't worry me. I loved Jackie and Micky and Pete.

b) WTF!!! For a guy who doesn't do domestic he seems to spend a lot of time with his assistants' families. Whywhywhy???

Opinions?

Yes, I read that somewhere a few weeks ago. I can't remember where (I'm pretty sure it was an RTD interview, though, so carried some weight) but it was suggested that Martha's family won't play nearly as big a role as Rose's. Martha is older and more self sufficient (probably not even living with her parents anymore but I can't remember if that was said outright).

I don't think we need worry yet, we may only see them once or twice (I certainly hope so!) I also think they may also be a little more middle class than Jackie and Mickey, so may grate less and probably be rather more boring (a reason not to see them too often!)

I've only just noticed the news piece on the BBC Doctor Who site that may have prompted this thread!

Not only a mother and father this time but also and brother and sister! There's another reason not to feature them too often - 5 of them?! It was crowded enough with Jackie, Mickey and (occasionally) Pete. Five?!

Five?!

Dad looks a bit of a hard bastard. There'll be no messin' with his baby girl in no damn fool blue box while he's around.

Was that to be read in a BA Baracas-y type of voice?
